Julia is a BACP accredited and UKRC registered counsellor with 15 years experience. She works with individuals using a personal synthesis of Emotion Focused Therapy (attachment based therapy), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Encounter-based Therapy. Her style is warm and highly relational. Clients are validated and supported to heal, learn and grow.
Over the past 15 years she has been helping clients to develop awareness of behaviours, thoughts and beliefs that stand in the way of well being. The core of her work is about noticing the ways in which we reject and judge ourselves and helping clients to fundamentally change their relationship with themselves by increasing levels of self-acceptance and self-compassion.
Therapy is about becoming aware of how our minds work and learning ways to regulate emotions and negative thoughts about ourselves, others and the world. This may involve practicing new skills, solving problems and learning to tune in to our emotions and bodily sensations through mindfulness.
A key aspect to her method is a clear emphasis on what is strong, healthy and successful. So by acknowledging, articulating and building on what is already working well, clients are enabled and empowered to gain new perspectives and achieve higher levels of hope, resilience and confidence.
Although 60 minutes works perfectly for most clients, sometimes a longer session may be preferred. Please let us know session length at time of booking.
